It is VERY important that you follow the instructions below regarding the design of your artwork. If you do not follow these instructions, your advertisement will either be the wrong size or will be very blurry by the time it has been sent over the internet to our publisher. We will not publish art that does not meet the guidelines below.

Preparing Graphics and Illustrations for PRINT

Creating Art

• Create your art in a recent (latest or prior release) version of Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator or Freehand. The image size should be exactly the size of the image that you are buying. Resolution should be at least 300 dpi. Save your image as a .TIFF or JPEG image. If you do not have any of these programs, you can send us the text for your ad and we can create an ad for you*.
• Supply your artwork either on a disk or via e-mail.
• Send us the name of any unusual fonts used to create your ad.
• Do not submit art created in programs such as WordPerfect, MS Word, Excel and Harvard Graphics.

Scanning Art

• Art must be scanned in Photoshop at the size it will be printed, at 600 dpi, and in grayscale. You can then insert this image into your ad design, which you will format according to the directions above.

NOTE: The publisher cannot resize or reformat something scanned or created at a low resolution. It changes its size and/or its resolution.

 

Preparing Graphics and Illustrations for the INTERNET

Creating Art

• Create your art in a recent version of Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator or Freehand. The image size should be exactly the size of the image that you are buying. Resolution should be 72 dpi. Save your image as a .jpg or .Gif image.
• If you want your image to flash, you must create the effect yourself and save it as a .gif image.
• Supply your artwork on a disk or via email.
• Supply us with any unusual fonts you may be using.
• Do not send .tif files or any art created in programs such as WordPerfect, MS Word, Excel and Harvard Graphics.

Scanning Existing Art

• Scan the art at a size bigger than it will appear in your ad and at:
  - 300 dpi for RGB (not CYNK) or
  - 600 dpi for Grayscale or line art, i.e. black and white images
• Import your scanned image into your ad graphics and save it according to the directions above.

• NOTE: The web manager cannot resize something scanned, created or sent to us at a low resolution. It gets bigger, but it gets blurry and/or jagged.

 

In house Graphic Art Work
Any graphic design work by SAE, either to create an ad from scratch or to modify an existing ad, will incure a service charge of $50/hour. We will never do work on your ads with your approval and consent.
