Fundacion "The Explorers Foundation"
The Quito Clubhouse is resource, a refuge and residence for travelers and members (You can join SAE once at the clubhouse).
The clubhouse has six private rooms, three with private bathrooms.
- Showers are all hot water.
- The shared kitchen is large and fully furnished.
- With a large living room (fireplace), map room and building wide Wi-Fi, members often stay for weeks while they explore or work in Quito.
Monthly guests donate from $200 to $300. Daily rooms go for $20 to $30.
The clubhouse is especially nice, having once been an Ecuadorian home of a large family.
Jardin Shopping Mall, one of the largest in Quito, is four blocks away. Carolina Park is nearby.
Bus and trolley lines run within one block of the front door.
All points of interest are easily reached within 15 minutes (Quito really isn’t that big!)
The club staff is especially knowledgeable of how to get anywhere in Ecuador, especially anywhere in Quito.
Because the airport has moved out of town (one hour plus away) and bus service is limited (taxi $24), the club staff can arrange convenient lodging near the airport. The clubhouse is an excellent choice for your headquarters in Quito. Mail is received and luggage is stored.
The club hosts expat/social events monthly and three or more day hikes during the month. There are two overnight hikes also.
All are guided by experienced members and are especially comfortable for those not interested in hiking to the summits, yet still want a challenge, get out of town, and see the mountains and the jungle. Club leadership will arrange extensive treks and hikes.
The club can recommend regular guides for climbing any of the Volcanoes or other mountains.
Call or email (firstname.lastname@example.org) for reservations.
