Andean Bear Conservation
Russ Van Horn of the San Diego Zoo works with the Botanical Research Institute of Texas and local Peruvians to use remote cameras, also known as "camera traps" to study the mammals of the mountain forests between Marcapata and Quincemil. This area is adjacent to the Interoceanic Highway, between Cusco and Puerto Maldonado. These cameras are used to collect data on the presence and activity of Andean (spectacled) bears. Russ will present a selection of the images from these cameras and discuss the various species illustrated, some of which are only found at these higher elevations.

FILM NIGHTS
We often show movies at the Cafe Punchay on Choquechaca 229, check with us or see the weekly events to enjoy great Latin American (and other great films!) Only S/5 for members, S/.8 non-members
PUB QUIZ
An event that has grown considerably in popularity is our Pub Quiz. At a popular restaurant, The Real McCoy, NOW EVERY Wednesday night at 7:30pm. Everyone can enjoy some food specials and 'happy hour' drinks while playing the game to benefit the DESEA organization that provides water filtration and hygiene instructions to remote communities in the Sacred Valley.
PERUVIAN FOOD & DRINK NIGHT
Our Peruvian Food & Drink Nights are quite possibly the most popular event we have. On these evenings, a buffet with a number of local dishes is prepared as a batch of pisco sour is made. This is a great opportunity not only to try some of the local dishes but also to meet other travellers passing through Cusco and to share your stories of exploring South America.

FILM NIGHT
About once a month we show a film that has a Latin American theme and/or setting. A number of the films we show are either docu-dramas or films with some biographical content. Below are examples of some of the films we show at the clbuhouse. If you have any ideas for films you think are worth showing let us know and we will do what we can.
QUECHUA CLASS
Another popular event is the Quechua Class for beginners. Quechua has been spoken in this region for centuries and was around before the rise of the Inca Empire. Even today it is still spoken by many in countries such as Peru, Bolivia and Chile. For these classes, we arrange to have an experienced teacher who is a native Quechua speaker to teach the basics.
Notes are provided.
