Volunteer or Intern at the Cusco Clubhouse

We are always looking for dedicated individuals to fill the following Internship/ Volunteer Positions (scroll down for more details on these jobs).

• Social Events Coordinator
• Volunteer Resources Coordinator
• Information Resources & Travel Writing
• General Office Assistant

The SAE Clubhouse in Cusco has regular social events aimed at introducing travellers to aspects of the local culture and region, as well as giving them an opportunity to meet up with other travellers passing through Cusco. The role of the Social Events Coordinator includes the following:

• Co-ordinating & overseeing SAE Cusco events
• Coming up with new event concepts
• Arranging & co-ordinating special events/outings linked to our mission

SAE aims to partner with local non-profit organisations and other community organisations to promote responsible volunteer opportunities for interested travellers. The role of the Volunteer Resources Coordinator is to facilitate this process by ensuring that our information is up to date. The responsibilities include:

• Research volunteering market within Universities- research and create marketing publicity
• Post and update all volunteer opportunities on website as well as in the clubhouse files and keep all clubhouses up to date as well.
• Answer emails about volunteering in South America
• Find creative ways to help both volunteers and volunteer organizations in Peru and South America.
• Maintain contacts with Peruvian Not for Profit organizations in the Cusco region and throughout the provinces, as well as through out South America.

At SAE we do our best to either have whatever the independent traveller may need or at least to know where to obtain it. Our information comes in different forms including the basic information we have in the clubhouses, the trip reports, the various information packets we produce, as well as the destination information on the web-site. In order to keep this updated we need someone to focus on our Information Resources & Travel Writing. The responsibilities here include:

• Updating the information using trip reports
• Updating the basic information on Cusco and surrounding areas
• Writing new info packets and updating newer editions existing ones

There are numerous ongoing general and administrative tasks at the clubhouse, so we are looking for someone who would like to gain some experience working as the General Office Assistant in this area while living in Cusco. The responsibilities include:

• Assisting with member services, including giving travel advice
• Selling merchandise to people passing through the clubhouse
• General administrative tasks (incl. making copies, keeping track of trip reports etc)

• Minimum time commitment - SAE Cusco asks any prospective volunteer/intern to commit for a minimum of 3 months. This not only ensures that you will have enough time to understand the ethos and work of the clubhouse, but also ensures that you can make the most out of the experience.


• Daily Business - Each volunteer is at front desk for his or her appointed time and has to make sure we can offer all the membership services we promise. This is key because for most members (and potential members) this is their first point of contact with the clubhouse.


• Typical Volunteer - Volunteers here at SAE tend to be friendly, out going, confident individuals. Good communication skills are needed to work with tourists/members who need help with their travel plans. Working well in a team is essential, flexibility and a good sense of humour. Fluent English is necessary and intermediate Spanish preferred. Volunteers normally can use their own initiative to shape and develop their role based on skills and experience. Most volunteers have had some travel experience in South America or knowledge of Peru, though this is not obligatory.
