Argentina Bus Information
Argentina is a large country that is well connected by buses, making them the cheapest way of getting around. They are safe and comfortable and there are three levels of service: común, which offers little comfort for overnight trips; semi-cama, with a slightly reclining seat; and coche-cama, where seats recline very far, while the bus makes very few stops.
With semi-cama and coche-cama, a meal will be served (ranging from a sandwich to a full meal with wine) and a movie will be shown.
Coche-cama tickets are the most expensive but on overnight journeys it is well worth paying for the extra comfort.
Every major city and many of the smaller cities will have a bus station in the city center.
The principal bus station for Buenos Aires is the huge Terminal de Buses at Retiro. It is on three levels, of third of which has all the bus company ticket offices (140 of them). The offices are zoned according to destination and there are plans displayed showing the location of these zones. The middle level has many shops and restaurants and access to the bus loading platforms (75 of them). There are illuminated displays showing arrivals and departures but these are not totally reliable. The lower (street) level has offices for the handling of parcels and packets, and access to local buses and taxis.

When traveling by bus it is recommended to bring water, tissues or toilet roll, snacks, and a sandwich if you’re vegetarian.
Bus companies will give up to a 20% discount for students and professors with proof of enrolment or employment (except during the peak season from December to March).
