Nikita Zijlstra, Buenos Aires Clubhouse
It takes a certain kind of person to work for South American Explorers. Would we say crazy? No, let’s say energetic, resourceful and incredibly patient! Meet the lovely Nikita Zijlstra from our Buenos Aires clubhouse.
Name: Nikita Zijlstra
Age: 22
Nationality: Dutch
Occupation: Student
I applied to work at SAE because it’s a non-profit organization that covers a lot of different things including events, travel advice and volunteering. I wanted to explore how marketing works behind the scenes and doing that in Buenos Aires is a bonus.
The best part of the job is the fact that the team is young and energetic team. There’s a real team effort in the office and everyone contributes different skills to each project.
The worst part of the job is that there are so many ideas that cannot be completed, because there’s very little funding to support them.
I travel because I love exploring the world, meeting new people and immersing myself within other cultures. I don’t want to spend all of my life in the Netherlands and I love learning new languages.
My favourite destination in South America is Buenos Aires because it’s full of different neighbourhoods – each with their own special and distinctive quality.
One thing that no one ever tells you about Buenos Aires is that it rains so much! Although the present rain is the worst it’s been in 149 years, so maybe I have just had bad luck this year.
The best service that SAE offers is its members in my opinion is the personal touch.
