Top 10 things to do in Lima, Peru
Planning a trip? Already there? Here are some of Camille Ulmer’s handy suggestions for the best way to spend a day in Lima. Now get out there and explore!

3. Visit the historic buildings in Plaza de Armas, Lima’s main square, and watch the changing of the guard at Government Palace (noon, daily).
4. Walk through Chinatown, hidden amid the commercial chaos of central Lima, and enjoy lunch at one of the chifas, which serve delicious Chinese-Peruvian dishes.
6. Shop for traditional handicrafts in the Mercado Indio (Indian Market) on Av. Petit Thouars.

7. Head towards the Costa Verde (in San Isidro, Miraflores, Barranco and Chorrillos) and stroll in the beautiful parks. Enjoy the ocean view and the magnificent sunsets while sipiong a Pisco Sour in one of the many restaurants along the way.

8. Explore the pre-Inca pyramid Huaca Pucllana in the heart of Miraflores.
9. Try paragliding or surfing along the Costa Verde.
10. Find great bargains at Polvos Azules (Lima’s official black market) located
in downtown Lima, on Paseo de la Republica by Parque de la Exposición. If
your camera or laptop gets stolen, you’ll be able to buy it back here.
