Biking in South America
Not that long ago, the SAE had its own South American Bicycling information packet. It was very popular, attractively priced, and cyclists helped us keep it up-to-date.
All that has changed. And we’re not sure why. The SAE bicycling packet is hopelessly out of date and it’s been months since we received a notable bicycling report. Anyway, we still have the packet and we’ll email it free to anybody who will help us get it back into proper form.
In the meantime, there’s Walter Sienko’s book on bicycling in South America. Also, the clubhouses do have a series of trip reports on bicycling in South America and there are a couple of articles in back issues of the South American Explorer on bicycling from Alaska to Tierra del Fuego, bicycling in Ecuador, and bicycling around Chile and Argentina.
That’s the state of information at the SAE. If you’re a cyclist, you owe it to your companions in this activity to turn this into a readable, informative, and talked about special interest page that will do credit to you and the followers of your strange sport.
